[Personality]
Outwardly, Reyna is cold and intimidating. She distances herself from most people, in an attempt to keep from growing too attached to them. Her icy exterior lasts until you have gained her trust, which is difficult to say the least. Through all that she’s been through, Reyna finds it difficult to trust others and will treat them coldly until she deems they are worthy to be treated her equal.

She is very strong willed, which helps more than it hinders with her status as Praetor to the Roman Army. While tactful and level-headed, Reyna rarely backs down unless it is in the best interest of her army. She easily fell into the role of soldier, thanks to hereditary traits of her mother, and makes sure that others will look to her as a strong leader. That being said, however, she thinks of the camp as her family.

She is fiercely protective of her family and will sacrifice one to save the many. If her leadership abilities are questioned in front of the legion, Reyna will steel herself against the offender and offer little mercy if needed. She hates being made to look weak and will lash out at the offender if possible, or even be bent toward the will of the camp. When Octavian calls for Greek blood, Reyna has no choice but to agree. The Romans were worked into a frenzy and Reyna could only do one thing without them revolting against her: To declare war on the Greeks even though two of her fellow Praetors are in the company of them.

Once she trusts you, however, she lets down her guard just a little. While still strict, she is much less cold and a little more friendly. She will open up about doubts, worries, tactics... Many things that she would normally keep to herself. She won’t open up much, but it happens. As Annabeth noted, Reyna is a good listener. She likes to take in information and apply it to any situations at hand, as she hates being left in the dark. When she does offer up information about herself, it’s after she’s calculated the importance and exactly how to phrase it. She admires those who are strong and strong willed like herself, and will generally open up to them easier than your run-of-the-mill John Doe. Such examples are Percy and Annabeth, who she found herself more comfortable with quicker than the rest. Their strength, after all, reflects on their character.

The last thing one would want to do with Reyna is make an enemy of her. Her usual cold demeanor will frost over even more and she does not forgive and forget easily. She is a dangerous ally, but a far more dangerous foe. She shows mercy only to those she once sought as allies, case being Annabeth. Reyna allowed her to leave without a fight, only to promise that next they meet they will be fighting.

After the betrayal of trust from the Greeks, Reyna has cut herself off more. Annabeth wisely notes that Reyna has become “too alone, too bitter and betrayed to believe anything could go right for her ever again.” Seeing the person she desperately wanted to return and to love her with someone else, then to betray her trust and attack her camp. Reyna admits under her breath to Annabeth that she hates her job, and with advisers like Octavian and the constant turnover or fellow Praetors, who can blame her? She held onto the false sense of hope that Jason would return, fighting off the call for a new Praetor for as long as she could manage... Was able to raise Percy to Praetor status just in time for Jason to return and for the both of them to disappear. As Reyna sees it, the only two people she could trust or has even opened up to, have now left and betrayed her.

[Other important stuff]
Reyna has two automaton greyhounds. Aurum and Argentum are her pets and the only beings that she’s found she can rely on. If at all possible, I’d like to bring her in with them as a means to help her adjust to the environment easier. Without them, she will cut herself off from people completely and struggle to gain the CR she’d need to thrive in the game. They’re easy enough to care for, since they’re machines they don’t need any food.

Aurum and Argentum are like her lie detectors, they can sense when someone isn’t being truthful and she’ll use them as guard dogs, but also as a way to decide whether or not she can trust someone.

Also requesting that her pugio (Roman Dagger) be sent in with her.

[Sample post]
[First Person]
- If someone provoked or attacked you, what would you do?

[Reyna levels her gaze on the interviewer, an eyebrow raised.]

Attack back, of course. I’d otherwise be seen as weak and the number of attacks would only increase.

- Would you consider yourself a power hungry individual?

I’d hardly call myself “power-hungry”. I enjoy my status, sure, and I’ve worked hard to get where I am. But to suggest that I’d be eager to manipulate in order to achieve a higher rank is an insult.

- Your country is in the middle of a war. What do you think of it? Do you support it or try to solve it yourself by going on an epic quest? Explain.

[She laughs. It’s not a happy laugh, or even amused. It’s dry and bitter.]

We’re Roman. War is second nature to us, we know how to handle it. I wouldn’t leave right when the Legion needs me either.. Not like...

[She frowns and cuts herself off.] Next?

- You are suddenly told you are the child of an ancient prophecy to save the world. How do you feel? Will you embark on your journey? Or would you rather shove it onto someone else and run away? Explain.

Prophecies are rarely ancient anymore. Besides, fate has ways of making you go on journeys, even if you don’t want to go. You can’t escape it, but you can waste time trying to.

- If you could destroy a city, how would you do it?
With my army. [Isn’t that how everyone does it? No? Well, that’s how Romans do it.]

- Am I asking too many personal or strange questions?
Yes. I fail to see how any of this is pertinent.

- The hottest boy/girl in class/workplace just confessed their love to you. How do you respond?

[There’s a small flash of emotion on her face, quickly replaced with a cold-as-stone glare.]

This is ridiculous.

[And she’s out of her seat and gone without another word.]

[Third Person]

Reyna needed to be somewhere quiet, somewhere away from people. She couldn’t deal with them right now, nor did she want to. She refused to play nice, to pretend to be something she wasn’t. By the lake? It was fresh air and somewhere she could breathe easy. The lone Praetor of New Rome sat with her knees tucked into her chest and her arms hugging them close. Even if she was allowed the freedom to show emotion, she still chose not to. Her steel gaze watched the ripples in the water without betraying her emotion.

Nearby, Aurum and Argentum ran around each other, playfully snapping and barking at each other as dogs are apt to do. Yes, even automaton dogs. Reyna lifted her gaze from the lake to briefly glance back at them and whistle. Both dogs snapped to attention and made their way back over to her, nuzzling against her sides before Aurum sat proud and tall on one side. Argentum laid down at her other side, silver head resting on her feet.

The water reminded her of everything she didn’t want to remember. The ship that attacked her camp, the Praetor she had lost and the war she had to lead. Her mother would be proud, she was sure. War was inevitable for her children, which meant Hylla and Reyna were no different. She pursed her lips and sighed as one hand loftily dropped to run over Argentum’s head. She could only ever trust her dogs.... Even automaton dogs followed their master with the loyalty of normal dogs.

It wasn’t until Aurum started to growl and Argentum’s head lifted, both dogs eyes fixed on the lake, that she broke from her train of thought. Right, Reyna had been told of the monster in the lake and how harmless it really was. She cooed soft and reassuring comments to the dogs, showing, perhaps, the first inkling of emotion that day. Wary as they were, the dogs calmed at her words and leaned closer to her, their heads still cautiously turning to the lake off and on. If worry could be reflected in ruby gem eyes, she was sure she’d see it.

“Next time,” she murmured, stroking a spot just behind Aurum’s ear. “We’ll stay away from the lake. I promise.”

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Reyna has a lot of opportunity to grow and learn how to interact with people... I want to explore this with her a little more, which really seems only capable of happening in an environment where she has to. Unfortunately, poor time management on my part kept her from seeing the growth she needed to when she was last here and I'd like to re-app her with the intent of helping her grown more.
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] “Be nice to other players”: Nothing turns me from a game more than player drama. It’s unnecessary and ridiculous and this is the rule I tend to live my life by: Treat others the way you wish to be treated.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Kat, Koree and Erica
